Active Rehabilitation FAQ

Active Rehabilitation is a structured, exercise-based program designed to help individuals recover from a motor vehicle accident. This is a program specifically catering to patients under an ICBC claim. The goal of these sessions are to support your recovery to pre-injury state in terms of range of motion, strength, mobility, hobbies, daily activities and work. It combines guided exercises, functional movement training, and education to support effective recovery and prevent re-injury.

Active rehabilitation is provided by a Kinesiologist who works with you to create a comprehensive rehab program.

Active Rehabilitation programs are ideal for people who are recovering from a motor vehicle injury where they were in a vehicle, on a bicycle or a pedestrian that was hit.

Yes. You are fully covered under ICBC within the first 12 weeks of your accident for up to 12 sessions. After the 12 week period your kinesiologist will work with you to submit the paperwork necessary to apply for more sessions. If you would like to start active rehabilitation sessions outside of the 12 week period, painPRO will request sessions from ICBC on your behalf. Once approved, you are fully covered.

During the initial assessment there we will as about your accident, previous medical history, hobbies, job demands and assess what you are currently capable of. Following sessions will be focused on teaching you exercises, techniques and providing education to support your recovery. Progressions will be made as you improve.

An initial assessment is 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 45 minutes. Program length varies depending on your injury and progress. Your practitioner will develop a personalized treatment plan and adjust it as you recover and regain strength, mobility, and function.
